Every year during the second week of March the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) runs a nationwide celebration of Teens and Technology called Teen Tech Week. The purpose of this week is to highlight and showcase all the great things teens are doing with technology.

This year we want to know what you are doing, watching and listening to in our first ever Teen Tech Awards! You can vote for your favorite YouTube videos, Web sites, games, movies, songs and podcasts by commenting to this post and letting us know what your favorites are.

Voting will begin on Monday, March 2 and end Friday, March 13 at 7 pm. The results from the votes conducted on this blog and from the various CADL libraries will be compiled to create a list of the Teens’ Top Ten for each category and will be posted here on the blog for everyone to see and comment on.

So, if you have a favorite YouTube video, Web site, game, movie, song or podcast Let Your Voice be Heard and vote today!

The YA Novels of Patrick Jones

(Cover Image) Chasing Tail Lights by Patrick JonesIf you’re lucky enough to be a student at Mason High School in one of a select few English classes, you had the chance to meet author Patrick Jones on Tuesday, May 13. But even if you didn’t, you can still check out his novels for Young Adults at your local CADL branch.

A Michigan native (he was born in Flint), Patrick Jones was a teen librarian before he began writing fiction. His novels feature teenage characters caught up in dramatic, real-life situations. Things Change, Chasing Tail Lights and Nailed are all available now through your local library. His latest novel, Cheated, was released in April, and is coming soon to CADL.

With Summer Reading almost here, Patrick Jones is a great author to discover, if you haven’t already! And if you have a favorite Patrick Jones book, we’d love to read your review here on the blog.

C-SPAN “Road to the White House”

On July 12, from 9am – noon in front of the State Capitol Building, downtown, you have the chance to be part of the C-SPAN “Road to the White House” tour. The campaign 2008 bus, which is a rolling, 45 foot television production studio, will be parked outside the Capitol building in order to promote the 2008 presidential campaign and C-SPAN’s coverage of it. The cool thing is that while they are here they want to talk specifically with middle school students, high school students, and first time voters, so that means you. Don’t miss your chance to experience a part of history in the making.
